Have you been a victim of creative diagnosis?

Creative Diagnosis: 10 Steps to Protect Yourself from Becoming A Victim

Kristy Henderson

Introduction

Have you received excessive treatment, unnecessary fillings, or numerous X-Rays? If so, you are probably a victim of creative diagnosis

Creative diagnosis is the act of performing unnecessary treatment for financial gain. It is the most common form of dental fraud. The American Dental Association recognizes this scam as a trend ravaging the dental community.

Dentists everywhere are inventing diagnosis for profit. They are targeting children and vulnerable adults by misdiagnosing cavities and other dental issues. They are using their power to perform unnecessary procedures and steal from innocent patients. This is wrong!

Luckily, there are a few steps you can take to protect yourself from creative diagnosis.

10 steps to protect yourself from being a victim of creative diagnosis

1.) Beware of excessive treatment

We’ve all been told since childhood that we should see a dentist twice a year for basic cleanings.

Today, an increasing number of dentists acknowledge that adults with good oral hygiene only need to see a dentist once every 12 to 16 months.

Don’t let your dentist overtreat you. Unnecessary appointments are a waste of time and money. Also, beware of unnecessary crowns, root canals, sealants and fluoride treatments.

If you have a generally healthy mouth and a dentist suddenly says you need thousands of dollars’ worth of treatment, you’re probably getting scammed.

2.) See for yourself

Nonexistent cavities are one of the biggest scams in the dental industry. Dentists everywhere are using creative diagnosis to irresponsibly fill perfectly healthy teeth.

So, if you have a typically clean bill of health when visiting the dentist but are diagnosed with a suspicious number of cavities, be proactive.

Ask your dentist to show you the cavity. See for yourself!

3.) Be cautious of misinformation

Dentists across the country are spreading lies about dental health to line their pockets. For example, dental offices will tell you that your amalgam fillings need to be replaced. They may say it is because the mercury in the material poses a risk to your health. There is no scientific evidence to back this claim. In fact, amalgam is strong, low-cost and is useful in most patients.

Don't leave yourself vulnerable to manipulation and misinformation, be aware of the facts.

4.) Avoid excessive X-Rays

Dentists will claim law prevents them from treating patients without first conducting an X-Ray. This is a lie.

The ADA states average dental patients only need one set of dental X-Rays every two years. It is important to monitor your dentist in this area because of the risk associated with radiation.

Dental X-Rays have been the fastest growing source of human exposure to low dose ionizing radiation over the past three decades. This type of exposure results in thyroid cancer and brain tumors. It is the most common source of diagnostic radiation exposure to the public.

5.) Get a second opinion

X-rays are legally your property, and your dentist is required to turn them over to you to bring to other dentists. So, if you receive a suspicious diagnosis, get a second opinion!

Deep teeth cleaning, for example, is a commonly cited red flag in cases of creative diagnosis.

This procedure is typically reserved for patients who experience frequent gum infections or have periodontal issues. If you do not experience either of these symptoms, odds are you’re being taken advantage of.

Don’t let your dentist pressure you into an expensive deep cleaning, which can cost upwards of $800, and is typically not covered by dental insurance.

Take your X-Rays to another dental office and get a second opinion.

6.) Don’t be fooled by attractive specials

Legitimate dentists will tell you to be wary of practices that use low-cost specials as a cheap ploy to get patients in the door. Don’t be fooled!

Giving into these cheap sales tactics puts you at risk of becoming a victim of creative diagnosis.

7.) Don’t give into pressure

Beware of dentists who pressure you to act quickly, or ones who refuse to supply evidence the procedure you are receiving is medically necessary.

If you don’t have any oral pain or can’t see evidence of a problem, don’t be pressured to have it fixed right away. Your dental professional could be using creative diagnosis to con you out of money and cost you undo pain or discomfort.

Ask questions, see for yourself, and stand your ground. If you feel like you’re not getting all of the information, you’re probably right.

8.) Find an alternative

Matthew L. Logan, D.D.S. says, “if you wouldn't recommend it to your mother, then don't recommend it to your patients.” Unfortunately, not many dentists live by this moto.

The crisis of creative diagnosis puts adults and children at risk every day, despite the concern of ethical dental professionals like Logan who call for change. In Logan’s own words: “Someone needs to stand up and stop this blatant violation of trust.” Here at Brighter Image, that is exactly what we’re doing. We are standing up to dentists who think they own the everyday smile. We’re standing up for you.

Brighter Image Lab offers dental tools to the public, allowing customers to reclaim their smile without a dentist.

9.) Do your own teeth whitening/polishing

NEWS FLASH: You don’t need a dental degree to whiten or polish your teeth, you just need the tools!

Our unique and easy-to-use products offer an alternative to people who want to improve their smile without the hassle of untrustworthy dentists.

Micro Surface Polishing is a key component of preventative oral care. With the Bilistic Polisher you can do this without a dentist, from the comfort of your home.

Spare yourself the risk of becoming a victim of creative diagnosis. Order our Bilistic Pure Bleach Gel and Bilistic Polisher today and brighten your smile at home!

10.) Take your smile into your own hands

For decades people have believed that dentists are essential to maintaining a beautiful smile. This is false. You don’t need cosmetic dentistry, just the dental tools.

Brighter Image Lab brings dental tools out of the dentist office and puts them in the hands of everyday people. Whether it’s polishing, whitening, or simply cleaning your teeth, Brighter Image Labs has a solution for you.

Visit brighterimagelab.com today and take your smile into your own hands!

Conclusion:

If you have received excessive treatment, unnecessary fillings, or numerous X-Rays, you might be a victim of creative diagnosis.

Creative diagnosis is the act of performing unnecessary treatment for financial gain and is the most common way for dentists to commit dental fraud.

Performing unnecessary procedures for profit is theft, plain and simple.

Dentists are inventing diagnosis, targeting children and vulnerable adults for financial gain. This is disgusting and a slap in the face to hard working Americans just looking to smile again.

Don’t become a victim of dental fraud. Follow our 10 step system and protect yourself from the greed of modern dentistry.

dentist lied about cavities

My Dentist Lied About Cavities

Aubrey Hanson
My dentist lied to me about cavities

Have you ever been suspicious that your dentist lied about cavities to you? Did you have to pay more than you thought was necessary for procedures you didn't fully understand? You're not alone.

My Dentist Lied About Cavities

Many years ago I was in college. In between the hubbub of midterms, sleepless nights, and Ramen noodles, I heard a radio commercial for Mint Dentistry.

I didn’t know anything about Mint Dentistry, but I figured they were reliable because I had seen their billboards. I showed up thinking I would get a quick cleaning and be on my way. I had never had any dental issues before.

To my surprise, when I went in to get a routine check-up, the hurried dentist told me that I had a cavity. I promptly set an appointment to get it filled and the next week they completed the filling. I paid several hundred dollars which was probably more painful than the uncomfortable procedure.

A dishonest dentist can scar you for life

Six months later, I went in for another routine check up and to get my teeth cleaned. The dentist came in and said that I had two more cavities that I should get filled as soon as possible. I became suspicious.

I Got A Second Opinion

I scheduled a dentist appointment at the office I had gone to when I was growing up. The dentist was a family friend and I trusted her to be honest with me.

I told her that this the dentist at Mint Dentistry had recommended I have two fillings.

She exclaimed that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my teeth and that a filling would be completely unnecessary. When I had gone to Mint Dentistry, their dentist had lied about cavities to me.

It Happens Everywhere

I've taken time to research this phenomenon and I'm not the only one whose dentist lied about cavities. It apparently is happening more and more. Not just with cavities, but with much more extreme procedures. There are many reasons dentists commit fraud like this:

High Dental School Costs

The cost of going to dental school has doubled since the 90's. Young graduates and even dentists years into practicing are having to pay off incredible amounts of money for their education.

The business may have become less lucrative than they had originally planned, and you can imagine how tempting it would be to over-diagnose to make up the difference.

Lying dentist profit from unnecessary procedures

Quotas From Large Corporations

Struggling small dental practices are often bought out by large dental corporations like Mint Dentistry and Modern Dentistry.

Dental corporations manage the business aspects of their practice. After giving up control to executives in offices far from the dentist's clinic, dentists are often at the mercy of their new bosses. These non-medical professionals are working toward making a profit and have full authority to give dentists quotas for procedures, and to threaten them with a pink slip if those quotas aren't met.

Can you tell if your dentist is lying by looking in their eyes?

Competition Is Higher

Older dentists are retiring later and later while new dentists are still entering the market. As this continues it becomes more difficult for dental clinics to be profitable. If a dentist is struggling to make payroll because he doesn't have enough patients, you can imagine how easy it would be for him to simply prescribe an expensive procedure in order to make ends meet.

What Can You Do?

New Technology

Technology has changed a lot and so has the dental industry. There are now many reputable dental solutions that are available commercially. Companies like these are not meant to replace necessary procedures, but offer innovative products that fix problems only dentists have been able to in the past.

Brighter Image Lab has been offering Lab Direct dental alternatives since 1997 and offers affordable choices like teeth whitening, tooth polishing, and even dental veneers.

Stay Skeptical

Many honest dentists practice ethically everyday despite the number of dentists engaging in deceptive practices such as lying about cavities, prescribing unnecessary procedures, and over-prescribing procedures to fix issues that patients could do without.

While there isn't a way for you to be 100% certain your dentist is one of the good ones, you should stay skeptical, and always trust your instincts if something doesn't seem right. If you've been told you need an overly expensive procedure, get a second opinion like I did. It may be hard to justify the cost of the second check-up, but you can end up saving a ton of money in the end.

Receding gum lines can be a warning of other oral issues

Receding Gum Line – 3 Startling Signs You May Need a Dentist

Bil Watson

“A smile is the universal welcome.”

- Max Eastman

Receding gum lines can be a warning of other oral issues

The saying goes that a smile is the prettiest thing you can wear.

However, when you have problematic or unsightly gums or teeth, it can certainly hold you back from welcoming all of the beauty the universe has to offer.

A top gum issue that impacts many people’s smile is gum recession. From what it is to what causes it, here is what you need to know about receding gum lines.

What does Receding Gums mean?

Gum recession, also known as a receding gum line, is when the edge of the gum tissue that surrounds your teeth pulls back and wears away. As a result, more of your tooth or the tooth’s root is exposed.

When this happens, it forms gaps or “pockets” between your gum line and teeth. This makes it easy for bacteria to build up and cause issues and diseases. If receding gums are left untreated, it can result in tooth loss because the bone structures and supporting tissue of the teeth become critically damaged.

While gum recession is a common dental issue, it occurs gradually and many people don’t recognize the signs and symptoms:

  • The first sign of a receding gum line is tooth sensitivity.
  • A tooth or teeth may look longer that normal.
  • A notch can be felt near the gum line.

If you suspect you have gum recession, it is NOT something that you want to brush aside. Because there are treatments that both prevent further damage and repair the gums, it is recommended that you make an appointment with your dentist right away.

receding gum line

Can receding gums grow back?

There are several factors that can cause your gums to recede:

Periodontal Diseases

  • Bacterial gum infections
  • Destroys supporting bone and gum tissue that hold your teeth in place.
  • The MAIN cause of gum recession is gum disease!

Rough Tooth Brushing

  • Aggressive brushing (either the wrong way or too hard) causes the enamel to wear away.
  • As a result, your gums will recede.

Genes

  • 30 percent of the population is predisposed to gum disease.
  • Gum disease occurs despite supreme oral care.

Poor Dental Care

  • Insufficient brushing, flossing, and rinsing allow tartar to build.
  • Tartar is hard and requires removal by a dentist.
  • This removal procedure can lead to gum recession.

Grinding & Clenching

  • These actions put too much force on your teeth and cause gum recession.

Tobacco Products

  • Using tobacco increases your chance of sticky plaque forming on your teeth.
  • Plaque is hard to remove and can cause gums to recede.

Misaligned Teeth

  • Crooked teeth place too much pressure on your bones and gums.
  • A misaligned bite can cause a receding gum line.

Oral Piercing

  • Tongue or lip piercings rub your gums and cause irritation.
  • This rubbing can wear away gum tissue.

Hormonal Fluctuation

  • Changes in female hormone levels can cause gums to become more sensitive and vulnerable to gum recession.
  • Hormonal fluctuations include puberty, pregnancy, and menopause.

As we previously mentioned, it is vital to your oral health to schedule an appointment with your dentist so that he or she can assess the severity of the receding gum line and recommend a course of treatment, as receding gums do not grow back.

Next, let’s take a closer look how you can INSTANTLY improve your smile and the appearance of your gum line.

Brighter Image Lab Cost – 3 Affordable Dental Veneers

Bil Watson

Imagine needing to change your smile. However, after going to the dentist, you receive a dental treatment plan that’s more expensive than your car. Instead of searching for the Brighter Image Lab cost, you do what most people do: fold up the treatment plan and set it aside, and continue to deal with the pain of a bad smile. Many people are left in this predicament and their hopes are gone.

A Smile Makeover should not cost $10,000 or more. The Lab Direct Process from Brighter Image Lab is specifically designed to save you thousands. Compare the Brighter Image Lab cost to Invisalign dentists charging up to $8,000 for adult braces. Our Instant alternatives are only $795!

What is the Brighter Image Lab cost?

Brighter Image Lab Cost Challenges the Dental Industry

“At Brighter Image Lab, we didn’t set out to challenge the dental industry.” says Bil Watson, Director of Brighter Image Lab.

“We saw our clients struggling with severe problems, and we saw that most of them were out of options. We didn’t spend thousands of hours to painstakingly develop revolutionary new products because we wanted to.”

In the past, people turned to dentists as the sole source of information for a smile solution. With the advancement of the Internet, many people are now looking beyond the dental industry for less expensive alternatives. They find these solutions when they find out how low Brighter Image Lab costs are, for our high-quality custom press on veneers.

For most, a real solution just is not attainable. Dental veneers, dentures, and implants are “high end” products within the dental industry and most people aren’t looking for a “high end” product. They need an affordable answer to allow them to smile again

The Brighter Image Lab Cost Created A Solution

In 2010, Brighter Image Lab created the Press On Veneers to answer the demand for these affordable products. In the beginning, it was a struggle. No one had created a product like this without a dentist, and it wasn’t easy.

The consensus from early clients was, “It’s not perfect, but will you just keep trying? I need this more than you know.”

Brighter Image Lab continued to work on design and made investments in software, technology, packaging and streamlining the process to where they are today. The results from keeping the Brighter Image Lab cost low are amazing.

Now, in a turn of events, dentists are sending their patients to Brighter Image Lab, especially since the introduction of the signature BilVeneers product in 2017. The industry changed because one man saw a need and transformed it into an opportunity.

New Life Smile

Brighter Image Lab is now looking to provide a free solution to those unable to afford even their low cost. Clients who submit their “Smile Story” online are considered by the board to then receive a product from Brighter Image Lab no-cost - absolutely free - thanks to generous donations from online donors.

Mr. Watson sums it up best, “When people ask us why we did it, we tell them we did it because somebody had to.”

Brown stains on teeth is one of the possible effects of Fluorosis

Brown Stains On Teeth – 3 Causes and The Best Solution

Bil Watson

Brown stains on teeth (tooth discoloration) is an aesthetic problem that is linked to a variety of causes.

These unsightly brown stains on teeth are often a source of embarrassment and can damage not only your teeth, but your self esteem as well

brown stains on teeth

The absolute number one facial feature is your SMILE

While poor dental care or eating certain foods can affect the appearance of teeth, what could be truly causing these brown stains on teeth may be lurking in your tap water, TOOTHPASTE, and mouthwash.

So wait… products that are meant to HELP your teeth could actually be harming them?

It’s true.

The reason is that many standard oral hygiene products are loaded with fluoride. This exposure combined with drinking fluoridated tap water ends up creating a toxic level of fluoride in your body.

This toxic level leads to a condition known as dental fluorosis, which causes brown stains and damages your teeth.

What is Dental Fluorosis?

And when consumed in high concentrations, fluoride causes dental fluorosis.

Fluorosis is a dental term that describes the developmental disturbance in regards to the enamel. It is not a disease, but rather a cosmetic condition. Overexposure to fluoride causes fluorosis, especially during the years when the teeth are developing, typically up to age 8.

The effects of fluoride on tooth enamel include lower mineral content and an increase in porosity. Typically, the dentist measures the damage by examining the surfaces of the teeth when clean, dry and under good lighting.

If the dentist suspects dental fluorosis, they can further examine your teeth and gums. X-rays are beneficial to make sure the teeth do not have any other defects, like cavities.

Dental fluorosis causes varying degrees of both aesthetic and physical damage to your teeth.

What causes brown stains on teeth of children?

The visual effects of fluorosis dictates the severity and varying degrees of damage:

  • Healthy, Normal Teeth: appear to have a smooth, glossy surface, that’s typically a pale white color.
  • Moderate Fluorosis: Moderate cases will affect all enamel surfaces of the teeth. The surfaces will show wear as brown staining as the main feature. Teeth can also begin to erode and even crumble.
  • Severe Fluorosis: In severe cases of dental fluorosis, the enamel can become discolored. Brown stains on teeth will develop over time, which is due to diffusion of exogenous icons, such as iron and copper, into the abnormally porous enamel. These brown stains on teeth are widespread, making the teeth look corroded. All enamel surfaces are now affected. The general form of the tooth may also be affected.

Dental fluorosis causes something that is called intrinsic discoloration.  What this means is that the inner structure  of your tooth, the dentin, darkens or gets a yellow tint. These intrinsic brown stains on teeth are much deeper and are permanent. It is usually not possible to neutralize or lighten this type of discoloration.

Unfortunately, intrinsic discoloration caused by dental fluorosis can greatly affect one’s confidence… but fortunately there is a way to instantly transform your smile!

Next, let’s take a closer look at choosing the BEST option to get rid of those pesky stains.

How do you get brown stains off your teeth?

We have some good news and bad news.

The bad news is that brown stains caused by dental fluorosis are, like we previously mentioned, permanent. This means that no amount of teeth whitening will truly change the color of your teeth.

Can a dentist get rid of brown teeth stains?

Other methods of removing stains, such as contouring or traditional veneers, can potentially enhance the appearance of your teeth. However, these techniques pose several concerns that you must consider:

Contouring:

  • Puts you at risk for tooth breakage
  • Can cause teeth to become weak
  • Only slightly improves appearance
  • Causes sensitivity if too much enamel is removed
  • Permanently alters the tooth structure

Traditional Veneers:

  • Process is NOT reversible
  • Not repairable if they chip or crack
  • Teeth sensitivity to hot and cold
  • May not match exact color of other teeth
  • Upwards of $20,000 + for a complete smile makeover

As you can see… the risks and price of these procedures aren’t worth it!

But don’t fret just yet because there is a simple and affordable solution to instantly transform your teeth and your smile.

Gum Contouring Before and After

Before and After Gum Contouring – 4 Reasons To Take Caution

Bil Watson

Curious about the effects before and after gum contouring? Would it interest you to know that gum contouring is rarely necessary? Read on to learn more!

Did you know that it takes LESS effort to smile than to frown?

It’s a FACT! Frowning requires a shocking 50 muscles… while producing a smile only needs 13.

However, when you have a “gummy smile”, your mouth most likely isn’t getting a work out at all.

Are you looking for a way to enhance the appearance of your smile?

For some, gum contouring is an effective solution. However, given the astronomical cost of the gum contouring procedure versus how little it does in return may leave you seeking a more affordable and effective solution.

Let’s take a look at what gum contouring is, what to expect before and after the procedure, and a stunning alternative that can give you the smile you’ve always wanted.

What Is Gum Contouring?

Gum contouring is a form of cosmetic dentistry that is used to correct and reshape excessive or uneven gums.

Prior to the procedure, the dentist will use a local anesthesia to numb the area. Next, the dentist will fix the uneven gum line by removing the excess gum tissue as needed and then sculpt the gum line with a laser or other cutting tool until it appears even and natural.

This process exposes a little more of the enamel of the teeth and can usually be done in one office visit.

Also known as gum lifting, gum contouring is a relatively painless procedure. While some people do experience discomfort and swelling for the first few days after the procedure, the healing time is typically quick.

Now that you know what gum contouring is, let’s take a closer look at what before and after gum contouring effects look like.

What are the effects before and after gum contouring?

Gum contouring is able to offer slight changes in your smile’s appearance. However, gum contouring CAN’T completely alter and transform your smile, especially if you have misaligned, crooked, cracked, chipped, or stained teeth.

Here are the changes you can expect from having a gum contouring procedure:

before

after

  • Excessive gum tissue
  • Uneven gum lines
  • Stubby or small tooth shape
  • Balanced gum tissue
  • Even and natural gum lines
  • Attractive tooth shape
  • A more symmetrical smile
  • Immediate, yet minor, results

These behind the scenes before and after gum contouring photos can give you an idea about the changes to expect. Please be aware that results can alter dramatically depending on your condition as well as who performs the surgery:

Client photo before and after gum contouring

Next, let’s look at the cost of this procedure to see if it’s even worth it.

How much is gum contouring?

Unfortunately, gum contouring can cost $50 to $350 to shape and remove the gum around a SINGLE tooth. The price range is so vast because the cost depends on:

  • Extent of the work needed
  • Local rates
  • Expertise and reputation of the dentist

Are Veneers Worth It?

Do veneers really work for people? Do veneers actually help with problems like chipped teeth, gaps, and alignment issues?

Are veneers worth it?

The answer to each of the questions above is yes. Read on to discover why veneers are worth it and how they have been life changing for so many people.

  • Be interviewed for jobs
  • Be hired for jobs
  • Advance rapidly through promotions
  • Earn more (1)

This is especially true in retail or sales jobs where someone interacts with customers or clients constantly.

Some jobs are even exclusively about attractiveness, like modeling. If top model, Lara, can use veneers to advance her modeling career, imagine what they could do for you!

Bettering Yourself

Some people did not have access to proper dental care earlier in life and were unable to afford the high cost of cosmetic dentistry

Ginger had a lot of dental issues due to not getting proper dental care as a child. Her smile continued to deteriorate and she was unable to afford major dental work.

She hid her dental malady by never allowing herself to smile showing her bad teeth

"This is going to change my life."

Ginger is proudly four years sober and has already worked to make her life better in so many ways. She saw getting veneers as the next step in her recovery process.

She wanted to be able to present herself well to others and to remove the distraction of her dental issues.

Her new veneers gave her exactly that.

Types Of Veneers

To help you answer this question for yourself, "Are veneers worth it?", first you should understand the different types of veneers and what they do.

Traditional veneers

Traditional veneers go on top of individual teeth requiring them to be filed down. The process is done in a dentist office and is irreversible.

Press-On Veneers – Brighter Image Lab

Press-On Veneers are a modern alternative to traditional veneers. They are a full arch for either top, bottom, or both arches of teeth. Press-On Veneers fit most teeth without any preparation necessary, and is only available lab direct from Brighter Image Lab.

What Do Veneers Actually Cost?

Traditional veneers vary in cost depending on geographical location and individual dentist. They typically range from $1,000-$2,500 per tooth. Because it is cosmetic procedure, isn't covered by most insurance plans.

Press-On Veneers are a much more cost effective option, especially when a patient needs to cover many teeth. Brighter Image Lab offers full arches starting at $795.

Workplace Discrimination – Bad Teeth

Aubrey Hanson

People with bad teeth experience a unique type of workplace discrimination and can find themselves in a vicious cycle that is almost impossible to escape!

workplace-discrimination

Why Do Bad Teeth Cause Workplace Discrimination?

Take a second and think about scary Halloween costumes or human-like monsters in horror movies. You will likely picture them with crooked, missing, or deeply-stained teeth. For some reason, many of us see imperfect teeth as scary! Unfortunately, bad teeth have a terrible effect on whether or not people get hired.

Bad teeth and discrimination go hand-in-hand. People tend to see people with bad teeth as being unreliable, having poor social skills, being less intelligent, and even being psychologically unstable! (3) Of course, none of these things are true, but the negative stereotypes tends to cause workplace discrimination.

Workplace Discrimination - "Perfect People"

People who are seen as attractive don't have these problems.  A 2017 study found that people who are more attractive are unfairly more likely to be:

  • Be interviewed for jobs
  • Be hired for jobs
  • To advance rapidly through promotions
  • Earn more (1)

One of the top causes that determines someone's attractiveness is their teeth and smile. (2) So if you have bad teeth, it doesn't matter if you are hard-working, motivated, or a good citizen, the odds are stacked against you.

Insecurities Caused By Bad Teeth

People can sense prejudice and discrimination in the workforce. As they look for work, many people feel that their teeth and smile will keep them from the jobs they desperately need. They lose their confidence and take less risks. Many people feel incapable of finding a job because of their bad teeth.

A dental school in Utah performed a study on a group of some of the most at-risk people. They worked with people who had been recently released from rehab and would likely struggle on their inevitable job search. The students provided free dental work to a percentage of patients and tracked their job search. They found that people who had dental care were twice as likely to get a job as those who didn't. Unfortunately, not everyone gets an opportunity like this. Most people cannot afford the high cost of cosmetic dental procedures they need to get ahead.

Cosmetic Dentists Are Too Expensive

expensive-dental-costs

Cosmetic dental procedures to fix people's teeth are insanely expensive. Cosmetic dentists often charge hundreds of dollars for a procedure done on a single tooth! If you want a full mouth reconstruction, you better cough up tens of thousands of dollars.

People with bad teeth should be able to find work. A ten thousand dollar entry fee into the workforce is unattainable for most! People are tired of this. When people don't work, they don't have money for dental care and their teeth keep getting worse and worse! It's a new form of class warfare! Many people feel like they don't have options. This vicious cycle has to end!

Brighter Image Lab

Brighter Image Lab has helped thousands of clients with their smiles. We understand the difficulties of a bad smile and we want to provide an affordable option to get you the boost you need.

When you have bad teeth, finding employment is a struggle and going to the dentist may not be an option. Brighter Image Lab offers a home-delivered solution for some of the worst smile struggles. Our dental veneers are a perfect option to give you a bright, new smile!

Veneers Vs Lumineers

Understanding Veneers vs Lumineers

In the world of cosmetic dentistry, there are many options. But which is right for you?

The purpose of this post is to layout the differences between veneers, Lumineers, and Press-On Veneers.

The main difference between veneers and Lumineers is the thickness. Typically, traditional veneers are thicker and require some enamel removal, while Lumineers are thinner and do not. Press-On Veneers are thin, like Lumineers, but are full arches and are much more affordable than the others.

Both veneers and Lumineers are acceptable smile options for the following issues*:

  • Chipped Teeth
  • Stained Teeth
  • Minor Alignment Issues
  • Gap Teeth

*Press-On Veneers can also fix the appearance of missing teeth

chipped-tooth

Traditional Veneers

veneers vs lumineers

Traditional veneers are small tooth-shaped structures that attach to the front of individual teeth for cosmetic purposes. The process of attaching traditional veneers starts with a dentist removing about .5 mm of the tooth's enamel. The patient will then have a set of temporary veneers for several weeks while a lab creates the final set.

After the set is ready, in a second appointment, the dentist will attach the veneers.

Lumineers

Lumineers follow a somewhat similar process however there is no enamel removal. Lumineers are much thinner than traditional veneers so they can be attached to the entire original tooth.

Press-On Veneers

Press-On Veneers are thin, like Lumineers, and do not require enamel removal. These veneers are typically full arches instead of individual teeth. They can only be purchased directly from Brighter Image Lab

They click into place over a client's entire top or bottom arch, giving a uniform and aesthetically pleasing appearance. They also can easily be taken in and out for cleaning purposes.

Press-On Veneers Before and After

veneers-vs-lumineers

The Differences

expensive-dental-scams

Cost

Traditional veneers and Lumineers are somewhat similar in cost. The cost will vary by geographic area and each individual dentist but both typically start at around $1,000 per tooth.

Since all of the procedures mentioned are cosmetic procedures, they are generally not covered by dental insurance

Press-On Veneers by Brighter Image Lab start at $795. Other low quality knock-offs can be found for as low as $400. Some dentist offices offer  alternatives, but have been known to charge over $2,000 for a single arch.

Reversibility

Reversibility is one of the main topics when discussing veneers vs Lumineers. Since traditional veneers require enamel removal they are irreversible. Once a patient has this procedure, they must continue upkeep indefinitely.

This is especially problematic for people whose teeth are healthy. It is difficult to justify altering otherwise healthy teeth simply to make them look better.

Lumineers and Press-On Veneers can be reversible and the original teeth can remain intact. This means people then can keep their full, healthy teeth. They also have the option choose alternative treatments in the future.

Durability

Traditional veneers and Lumineers have been known to last up to 10 years. Some say Lumineers can last longer.

Press-On Veneers last 5 years or more depending on a client's dental hygiene.

Dangers

Traditional veneers and Lumineers are cemented to the patient's teeth. There is never a perfect transition between the foreign material and the gum and this ridge can be an area that has a higher susceptibility to gum cancer.

Final Thoughts on Veneers vs Lumineers

The main differences between the procedures are cost, reversibility, durability, and potential dangers. Many people are nervous to have a permanent procedure done that requires their teeth being shaved down. Lumineers and Press-On Veneers are both alternatives to the traditional process.

It's important to know the differences for veneers vs Lumineers before making any decisions. What do you think is the best veneers option for you? Would you please let us know in the comments below?

Can A Teeth Gap Be Hidden By Veneers?

You may be asking "can a teeth gap be hidden by veneers?" You're definitely not alone. Thousands of people struggle to find an affordable way to fix their teeth gap and veneers are a popular solution.

can-a-teeth-gap-be-hidden-by-veneers

Teeth Veneers

Teeth veneers are a great way to fix a tooth gap. It can be a relatively quick process (depending on the type of veneers chosen) and you don't always have to have any complicated orthodontic work done. Teeth veneers go on top of teeth to hide any imperfections. They can be made from porcelain or composite resin depending on the procedure and your preferences. There are traditional veneers and PressOn Veneers.

cosmetic dental procedure

Traditional Veneers

Traditional veneers are applied at a dentist office. The procedure requires enamel removal so dentists have to shave off about .55 mm of a patient's teeth before adding veneers. This makes the process irreversible.

The cheapest traditional veneers cost around $1,000 per tooth, in addition to the cost of dental appointments.

PressOn Veneers

Press-on veneers are a modern way to create dental veneers. These don't require any enamel to be removed and are reversible if you want a different procedure in the future.

Brighter Image Lab Veneers - Before & After

PressOn Veneers

PressOn Veneers are created directly through our online dental lab.

They are an extremely cost-effective option. Our teeth veneers cost as little as $795 for a full arch.

Dentist offices offer similar solutions for around $2,000 or more depending on the office. That cost compounds when you calculate the exam, x-rays, add-ons, treatment plans, and time lost from work.

Brighter Image Lab PressOn Veneers

Brighter Image Lab is the only lab that makes the Original PressOn Veneers. Thousands of clients with a range of varying dental imperfections like teeth gaps  have ordered PressOn Veneers. Veneers from Brighter Image Lab are cost effective, available quickly, and can fix even the largest teeth gaps.

The company works to make their products available to as many people as possible by offering affordable payment plans. Clients can pay for their dental veneers with payments as small as $24 per week

Other Dental Options

Bonding

Bonding can fix teeth gaps. It can be done in a few short visits. The process costs between $200 and $600 per tooth plus the expense of booking a dentist appointment and time off from work. Bonding can fix small teeth gaps but is inadequate for larger issues.

braces-sample

Orthodontics

Another option for fixing a teeth gap is an orthodontic procedure. This can look like traditional metal braces or clear shaping retainers like Invisalign. These processes can cost $3,000 to $10,000 depending on the orthodontist.

These processes also can be painful and can take a very long time to finish. Some cite having to have braces for multiple years before their alignment issues are fixed.

Veneers Vs Crowns

Aubrey Hanson

Veneers vs. Crowns - Understanding The Difference

The main difference when considering veneers vs. crowns is what they are used for.  Veneers are cosmetic and crowns are both cosmetic and structural. Both go over your teeth to help with a range of issues.

It's important to know the difference and to be educated about what is right for you. You should always be informed about dental procedures before getting them.

Traditional Veneers

What Are Traditional Veneers?

Traditional veneers are done in a dentist office and are a thin shell that goes on the front of a patient's teeth. They are made from either porcelain or a composite resin and are applied for minor issues with front teeth.

How Much Enamel Is Removed?

Before applying, the dentist will remove about .5 mm of enamel from the teeth. This makes the procedure irreversible and must be replaced when the veneers eventually chip or break.

How Long Do They Last?

Traditional veneers last around 5-7 years with composite resin and 5-10 years when done with porcelain.

How Much Do They Cost?

Cost for these veneers vary depending on the dentist, but typically the cheapest you can find are around $1,000 per tooth. Veneers are considered cosmetic so dental insurance typically does not cover their cost.

dental-office

To summarize the concept of veneers vs. crowns:

Enamel Removal: Traditional veneers do not require as much enamel-removal as crowns do.

Longevity: Traditional veneers do not last as long as crowns do, though they cost just as much, on average.

Press-On Veneers

What Are Press-On Veneers?

Press-on veneers cover the full arch rather than individual teeth. You can purchase them directly from our lab. They not only go over the top of existing teeth, but they can also cover gaps

dramatic-smile-transformation

How Much Enamel Is Removed?

This process is unique in that it is reversible since enamel removal is not necessary. This is a great option for people who are opposed to having portions of their teeth shaved away.

How Long Do They Last?

These veneers can last up to five years or longer if they are properly maintained and used with care.

How Much Do They Cost?

Press-on veneers can vary in cost but high-quality ones cost around $800 for a full arch which is much more affordable than traditional veneers.

Crowns

What Are Crowns?

Dental crowns are similar to traditional veneers in the sense that they cover individual teeth. Crowns however are much thicker and go around the entire tooth. Dentists apply crowns when there is tooth decay or when a patient has had a root canal.

How Much Enamel Is Removed?

A dentist will remove up to 75% of tooth enamel before adding a crown.

How Long Do They Last?

Crowns last longer since they are stronger and thicker. You can expect to get around 15 years of use before getting them replaced.

dentist-chair

How Much Do They Cost?

Crowns cost at least $1,000 per tooth, but can be much more depending on the dentist. Some crowns are partially covered by dental insurance.

To summarize the concept of veneers vs. crowns:

Enamel Removal: Crowns require much more enamel-removal than traditional veneers do.

Longevity: Crowns last longer than traditional veneers.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

Aubrey Hanson

"How long do veneers last?" It's an important question to ask. You want to be informed about the different aspects about dental veneers and what to expect after ten years down the road. You need to know all the ins and outs so let's dive in.

How Long Did Veneers Last In The Past?

Dental veneers used to last longer than they do now. A few decades ago, veneers were used for minor, simple dental issues like small chips or imperfections.

These original versions lasted around fifteen years or more. They also were much less invasive and did not require much enamel removal.

How Long Do Veneers Last Today?

how-long-do-veneers-last

Today, veneers are very different. They can fix much larger issues like crooked teeth that would have been treated by an orthodontist in the past.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers last about 10-15 years. They are the most durable veneers available and also the most expensive. Porcelain veneers can cost around $1,000 per tooth.

Dentists remove a lot of natural tooth enamel to apply porcelain veneers. This is problematic for younger patients as they need multiple replacements over the years and every application requires more enamel removal. This process is irreversible, and patients (especially in their 20s and 30s) should be extremely cautious.

Press-On Veneers

Press-On veneers (no-prep veneers) can last 5-7 years. There's no need to remove any enamel. You can even get press-on veneers lab direct, without a dentist.

Press-On Veneers do not require any enamel removal or irreversible procedures. Many companies do this through a mail-in process.

Press-On Veneers are also much cheaper than their porcelain competitors. You can get a full arch for as little as $795 lab direct.

Making Your Veneers Last

It's not only about how long veneers last, but how long do veneers last when you're taking care of them. Make sure to:

Practice Dental Hygine

Always brush your teeth twice a day and add flossing to your morning or night routine. This prevents bacteria build-up.

Chew Carefully

When chewing tough or crunchy food in the front of your mouth. The front area of a dental veneer is more prone to chipping. Instead get into the habit of chewing in the back of your mouth.

Use A Mouth Guard

wooden-toothbrushes

If you play a high-contact sport or struggle with grinding your teeth at night, invest in a mouth guard. This simple addition can protect your teeth veneers from damage in some of the most problematic situations adding to the longevity of your veneers.

If you are the proud owner of THE best teeth veneers (thanks to Brighter Image Lab), start now and practice those good habits to protect them. In the years beyond, when people ask you “How long do veneers last?” you can proudly reply “Many years because I take good care of them!”

How To Become A Model

How To Become A Model In Seven Steps

Are you interest in how to become a model? The modeling industry is tough to get into, but it’s really rewarding once you do. Follow these steps to get started!

photography-set

Figure Out What Type Of Modeling

Vocabulary Help: Fashion Modeling Vs. Commercial Modeling

Fashion modeling is modeling for clothing. This can be print, catalog, or runway. It’s basically anything involving clothes. Measurements are really important in fashion modeling and there is typically a height requirement.

For women it is often around 5’8” and for men it’s around 6’. Female models typically fit into dress sizes 2-4 or 5-7. Male models wear a suit size 38-42.

Commercial modeling is modeling for anything that isn’t clothing. Models shoot a variety of shots for an endless amount of industries. Measurements do not matter in commercial modeling and you can do it at nearly any age.

Surprisingly, the majority commercial models are often higher payed than fashion models. There is also an element of acting that goes into commercial modeling. This is a big part of figuring out how to become a model.

Clean Up Your Diet

healthy-food

This is especially important if you’re a fashion model because the expectation is that you are fit. This is definitely not a requirement but most fashion models I know are vegan. There are a lot of benefits of a vegan diet and being vegan makes you extra conscious about food, which can be helpful.

Make sure you never diet so much that your weight falls below a healthy weight. If you aren’t naturally small enough to be on the skinny end of fashion modeling, just switch to commercial. Your health is never worth risking.

Make An Exercise Plan

This again is because being fit is part of the job. Find something you enjoy doing that you can continue to do.

Men, make sure you don’t get too bulky, because being too big can keep you from winning some modeling jobs.

Women, work to do more toning exercises than bulking ones. This means using smaller weights with longer reps. For creative ideas, check out John Benton Model Fitness on Instagram.

Fix Your Teeth

If you have dental imperfections, this can really hold you back. You’ll likely have to get those fixed before someone will sign you. Cosmetic dental procedures are expensive and are not covered by dental insurance. A great option for an alternative fix would be Brighter Image Lab. We make products that are perfect for models.

Our team has set up a process where you can get amazing dental veneers straight through the mail. Brighter Image Lab products start at $795, but you can set up a payment plan and pay them off with affordable $24 installments. Click here to learn about PressOn Veneers and the rest of their products!

If you end up booking a single good modeling job, you will make it all back.

presson veneers

Fix Your Skin

People with good skin are more likely to be signed by an agency and booked on modeling jobs. The reason for this is because this industry is very fast paced with a lot of deadlines.

If the makeup artist doesn’t have to cover up skin problems or the photographer doesn’t have to edit much in post-production, they save a lot of time.

Take some time to assess your skin and figure out what you need to fix. Invest in some sort of face wash, a product to gently exfoliate, moisturizer, and sunscreen. A great resource for even the most complicated skincare questions is r/skincareaddiction on Reddit.

You can search any issues you have, and read product reviews. Many products have harmful chemicals that can damage your skin more than help, so get educated before you buy anything new.

how-to-become-a-model

Take Some Digitals

Vocabulary Help: Digitals

Digitals are simple pictures showing different angles of your face and body.

Wear form-fitting clothes in either black, white, or denim and have someone take several pictures. At the very least you will need pictures of the front and each side of your face (similar to a mugshot) and a shot of your full body. Women should wear heels and avoid noticeable makeup.

Get Signed

This is what people traditionally think about when considering how to become a model.

You need an agent to start getting work, but you can also start out with a management company that will help connect you with an agency. Research agencies or management companies within the area you want to work. They will likely have a place for you to send in your digitals online. You can also go to an Open Call.

Vocabulary Help: Open Call

An open call is a time when you can visit the agency and talk to a staff-member or agent one-on-one. Information about Open Calls will likely be posted on their website.

Only go to Open Calls for reputable agencies and management companies. Make sure they have an active website and not just social media presence. Never sign a contract with an agent that asks for money up-front.

Reputable agencies will simply take a percentage of the money you make on jobs they get you. That percentage should only be 10-20%.

Justin Russo is often shot sporting a shiny blue suit and sitting in a manicured lobby casually giving dental advice.

On one occasion, he spoke out about press-on veneers and issues a warning to people interested in press-on dental veneers declaring, “Don’t do it!” He expressed that there were subtle nuances involved in creating dental veneers to be able to make sure they are “properly fitted.”

He urges viewers to come to his office instead of purchasing press-on veneers.

Celebrity Cosmetic Dental Work

The procedures he does (and encourages his viewers to choose) are not cheap. The work he does would likely fall under the category of celebrity cosmetic dental work. This type of dental work used to be only done for Hollywood celebrities since they were the only ones who could afford it - they were the only ones with close-up cameras in their faces all the time.

In today's culture the average person has the ability to post pictures for hundreds of their friends to see, on any given day. There has been a new shift toward this type of dentistry for the wealthy, non-celebrity demographic.

But this type of dental work was never meant to be the standard.

Russo Dentistry Has Made Justin Russo Tons Of Money

Justin Russo at Russo Dentistry has obviously become very wealthy from his dental practice. He is living an advantageous life and is likely quite disconnected from people who struggle to pay for procedures as expensive as his.

It's easy to see his extravagant way of life from his marketing videos where he sports an expensive suit and $890 Hermès belt

He also posts pictures sporting $595 Gucci loafers.

Monogrammed Items

russo dentistry

We've spotted posts of more of extravagant items including ones with his initials, "JMR"  and "doctor" monogrammed on them.

justin-russo-monogrammed-shoes

There's no problem with owning upscale items, but having this much highlighted makes one wonder who is footing the bill of his lavish lifestyle. It is likely his patients paying exorbitant amounts for his overpriced procedures.

You have better things to do with your money than giving it to Russo Dentistry and funding the items above. Despite his claims, you have better options.

There Are Many People Who Cannot Afford His Expensive Procedures

Many of the people who need cosmetic dental help are from lower income brackets and cannot afford Russo Dentistry and the fancy procedures offered there. His claims that people should avoid cheaper procedures may unnecessarily scare them away from affordable dental care.

His statements in his videos can cause so much damage that he may never have anticipated from his elitist viewpoint.

As a dental professional, his claim is “expert testimony” although it is incorrect.

Russo’s large blanket-statements in his video may in fact violate several sections of the official ADA code of conduct that are set in place to protect the public from predatory dentists.

A company called Brighter Image Lab has thousands of satisfied customers that have purchased PressOn Veneers. The founder, Bil Watson, has created processes that allow them to create customized dental veneers that take into account the subtle nuances Russo mentioned.

Brighter Image Lab PressOn Veneers are also more affordable for the income brackets that don't have the disposable income for expensive cosmetic dental work or $890 belts.

Other dentists may also create press-on veneers that are completely satisfactory and will cause no harm to patients wearing them.

He Has No Evidence To Support His Statements

Justin Russo at Russo Dentistry does not disclose any sources in his video about press-on veneers, but simply claims that patients won’t get the same results as going to his office.

He expresses that he knows more about creating veneers, which could cause people to fear that other dentists will give their teeth a “chicklet” appearance.

Section 5.F.1 of the American Dental Association Code of Conduct expresses that on published communications, dentists cannot imply that their work is better than others without reasonable substantiation.

Russo’s arbitrary views are not reasonably substantiated.

He Misrepresents His Competence

In his claims, Russo implies an almost omnipotent understanding of the world of press-on veneers.

He does not cite external evidence.

We have no reason to believe he has studied the topic in depth or recently. Having the title of dentist does not mean he is all-knowing about all dental solutions, especially options that are sold commercially and not at his office. His claim may violate section 5.E

He Lacks Dedication To Reasonable Alternatives

Dentists are required to inform patients of any reasonable alternatives to the treatments they propose (section 1.A).

The language in Russo’s video about press-on veneers (as well as his article highlighted on his website’s front page titled Cheap Dental Alternatives) promotes himself and his capabilities rather than a professional, balanced explanation.

Dentists who make generalized claims like the ones in this article cause great harm to people who struggle with dental imperfections and cannot afford any type of cosmetic dental procedure. Using his platform as a dental professional to brashly dismiss press-on veneers is out of touch at best, and a violation at worst.

cosmetic-dentistry-screw

Millions of Americans are unable to pay for necessary dental work, much less expensive cosmetic procedures. People with bad teeth who cannot afford cosmetic procedures often struggle to find a good job.

Patients like this should be encouraged to find high-quality cheaper alternatives, not scared away from any options that don’t happen to be Russo Dentistry.

Britghter Image Lab

Brighter Image Lab is one of those high-quality options. Our team uses modern digital design technology and 3D printing to create amazing dental veneers for thousands of people. Our smile designers customize each individual order to the finest detail.

We make sure our teeth veneers look natural, by using a special resin originally developed by NASA, so our veneers don’t have an awkward “chicklet” look.

smile-makeover

Dentists have a financial interest in keeping their patients away from cheaper products instead of presenting them to patients as reasonable alternatives.

Do you trust your dentist enough to avoid even looking at other options? Would you rather be someone who sees the full picture?

The cosmetic dental industry makes billions of dollars so it pays to have a monopoly on cosmetic procedures. Do you feel that dentists have worked to keep their illegal monopolies like they have in the past? Let us know in the comments below.

Pros and Cons of Each Procedure

    Bonding

In the cosmetic bonding process, a dentist uses resin to fix issues with a tooth. These issues can be small chips, alignment issues, or fixing of the overall shape. This process can work well for patients with minor problems, but this solution needs to be repaired every 5 to 10 years. Continual teeth whitening procedures are also recommended to keep the color of the tooth identical to the resin. The replacement and upkeep can be expensive.

    Pros

    • Can be completed in one visit
    • Is a relatively painless process

    Cons

    • Does not last as long as other options
    • Often accompanied by a root canal

    Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges are used to cover teeth imperfections or to improve the shape of the tooth or teeth. A crown can be put on an individual tooth and a bridge is on three or more teeth. They type of material depends on what the dentist offers and what the patient needs.

    Pros

    • Can replace one or more teeth
    • Function much like normal teeth
    • Often cheaper than implants

    Cons

    • Requires continual maintenance
    • Often accompanied by a root canal
    • May damage remaining teeth

    Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are made of porcelain or resin and go over your natural teeth. The technology of veneers has increased over the years and has made it possible to be almost perfectly discrete.

You can purchase veneers through a dental office or an online site like Brighter Image Lab if there is anything keeping you from going to a dentist.

    Pros

    • Look like perfect real teeth
    • Don’t stain
    • Quick to create

    Cons

    • Teeth may have to be shaped
    • Requires routine replacements
    • Porcelain can chip

    Gum Graft

Over time people's gums can recede and can become unsightly and even dangerous for the exposed tooth's health. This procedure is a surgery that takes a bit of gum tissue from another part of the mouth and grafts it onto the receding area. This can be done for cosmetic or reconstructive purposes.

    Pros

    • Fixes receded gum
    • Protects exposed teeth

    Cons

    • Can be painful
    • Requires several days of recovery

    Implants

Dentists can put in tooth implants into the gums of your teeth where one is missing. The process is a small surgery where the dental professional inserts a created tooth and tooth root into the gum where the old tooth had been.

    Pros

    • Look almost identical to real teeth
    • In most cases it's a less temporary fix
    • Typically able to eat with implants

    Cons

    • Can take up to 6 months to complete
    • Work has to be redone in a few years
    • The procedure is costly

    Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays are more intense versions of fillings that go on teeth in the back of the mouth. They are typically used when traditional fillings have been ineffective.

    Pros

    • More effective and stronger than fillings
    • Is better for the original tooth structure than fillings

    Cons

    • More expensive than fillings
    • Requires two appointments

    Invisalign

Invisalign is an orthodontic procedure that straightens teeth over time. This procedure is generally appealing for people who want an alternative to metal braces.

The process is long and requires patients to wear a clear aligner for as much of the day as possible. The aligner must be removed when eating and can be an inconvenient process.

    Pros

    • Straightens your natural teeth
    • Continual use is temporary
    • Aligners are clear

    Cons

    • People with severe dental issues are ineligible
    • Must remove when eating
    • Must wear a retainer at night even after the procedure

    Teeth Whitening

Teeth fade and discolor over time and teeth whitening procedures are a way to restore teeth to being white and bright.

    Pros

    • New bright smile
    • Gel treatments are inexpensive
    • Only affects the surface of teeth

    Cons

    • Teeth may become sensitive
    • Teeth can become more prone to stain

Our PressOn Veneers are a great way to fix your smile, no matter how many imperfections you struggle with. The digitally-designed veneers snap on over the top of your natural teeth. We design them specifically for your mouth and teeth to give you the perfect smile you'll be amazed by!

Our smile designers artistically design each client's dental veneers and create them through a 3-D printing process.
