Introduction
A life without a smile can be rough. Many people who suffer from a poor smile have low self-confidence and are more likely to give into peer pressure. Giving into peer pressure and experimenting with drugs and alcohol has landed good people behind bars. Almost half of the people who are released from jail go back within the first year. If we want to keep people from reoffending, we have to do things differently than we have before. Reducing recidivism starts with a smile. It may sound simple, but all you have to do is try.
In this blog, we will discuss recidivism and how something as simple as a smile can change the trajectory of your entire life.
What is Recidivism?
Recidivism refers to a person’s relapse into criminal behavior, often after they have served time for a previous offence.
How Brighter Image Lab Fights Recidivism
People who have spent time behind bars face significant barriers as they re-enter society. Many of these barriers make it hard for them to successfully adjust to life on the outside and contribute greatly to the rate of recidivism.
At Brighter Image Lab, we believe removable veneers have the power to reduce recidivism rates and change the lives of those who have been previously incarcerated by helping them solve one issue that makes it hard to thrive in modern society – a poor smile.
Mother Teresa said, “Your smile is a gift.” At Brighter Image Lab, we believe the gift of a new smile has the power to change a life. Every year, people come to us who want to change their future. They do everything they can not to go back to being the person they used to be, and we redesign a smile they can be proud of.
When people have a bad smile, it affects their romantic connections and career opportunities. For people who have a bad smile, removable veneers from Brighter Image Lab are a great option.
Dentists want you to pay thousands for a new smile, but you don’t have to. Removable veneers have the power to transform your smile in an instant, and with Brighter Image Lab you can do it for under $1,000.
One Brighter Image Lab client named Zack was quoted up to $18,000 by a dentist, but he came to us instead and transformed his smile for pennies on the dollar. Continue on to read Zack’s story and learn how you can achieve the same amazing results he did!
Zack’s Story
Every day, people are ridiculed, judged, alienated and discriminated against due to a poor smile. Before he came to us, Zack was one of these people.
Zack may be considered a rebel, but he is a rebel with a cause. When he came to Brighter Image Lab, Zack had a smile that was holding him back. He struggled with job interviews, dates, friends and even family. His poor smile had been with him most of his life.
Through drugs, addiction, jail and recovery, Zack’s poor smile was always there holding him back and weighing him down. Thankfully, Zack decided to take action and make a change by coming to Brighter Image Lab.
When you see his results below, you’ll understand that a small change can make a big difference, and something as simple as a smile can help reduce recidivism.
Zack’s Story in His Own Words
“My name is Zack, and I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. I heard about Brighter Image Lab, and it was really appealing to me because it was less expensive (than the dentist). The overall effect was really great in other people, and I really wanted that for myself.
Brighter Image Lab sent me a great smile. It was awesome! I wore it for close to a year. Then, I got into a car accident. I felt really bad, because I was just getting my life back and everything was going great. I’ve battled with addiction in the past that led me down a dark and scary road. I went to prison for a few years, and it straightened me out.
Ten years ago, I was trying to find a place to live, and with a bad smile, nobody wants to give you a chance. I think a smile would greatly impact my life by letting me look at people and smile and have that confidence again, and that’s one thing I’m trying to get back. I’ve been trying to stay in the gym and work on that as well.”
Zack’s Interview with Bil Watson
What got you into drugs and what got you out?
I guess peer pressure got me into drugs, and things just got worse from there. It was like a snowball effect, and before you know it, I was stone-cold addicted. I became an alcoholic. I was sitting in my hotel room, and I was drinking. I had a bottle of tequila, and I told myself, “I can’t do this anymore.”
I’ve been in and out of rehabs and out of jails, but there was always that little voice in the back of my head saying, “You’re not done yet.” This time, when I quit, I was really serious. I was so tired of the heartache and the headache that addiction was causing me, so I made the decision. Then, that little voice in the back went away.
